What is ride sharing?
With population growing throughout Central Virginia, and public budgets tight, it is increasingly important we make smarter choices about our transportation options. We cannot build our way out of traffic congestion and pollution
Ride sharing gets people out of single occupancy vehicles. This reduces congestion on our highways as well as reduces our impact on the environment.
Types of ride sharing include;
- Carpooling Sharing a ride to work with people who have a similar commute
- Vanpooling A company provided or leased van is used for larger groups
- Schoolpool A coordinated group is formed for parents to alternate getting kids to school
