Welcome to RideShare
RideShare Week is October 20-24, and we are partnering with Dunkin Donuts to thank Central Virginia commuters for sharing the ride.
RideShare Photo Contest – Everyone Wins! Commuters that share the ride via carpool, vanpool, transit, biking, walking or even telework can win a $10 Dunkin Donuts gift certificate.
Simply send a photo to RideShare of you and your daily commute.
• Include your name and mailing address so we can send your prize.
• If you share the ride with others, include their contact info as well – we will send a $10 Dunkin Donuts certificate to everyone in the pool!
• We want to see you and your form of alternate transportation, so please make sure the photo includes both! (Photos may be used by RideShare for promotional purposes. Dunkin Donuts gift certificates will be sent to the first 100 participants.)
Looking for a better way to get where you’re going? You’ve come to the right place. It’s nice to share. And when you share the ride, everyone benefits – your community, your car, and your wallet! RideShare is here to help you get started.
RideShare is a program of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission in cooperation with the Central Shenandoah Planning District Commission, working to reduce traffic congestion and increase mobility throughout Central Virginia and the Central Shenandoah Valley.
We offer free carpool and SchoolPool matching, vanpool coordination, and we operate a Guaranteed Ride Home program to provide free rides home in an emergency. RideShare also works with employers to develop and implement traffic reduction programs, and we market the region's Park and Ride lots.
RideShare is a member of the Commuter Information Team (CIT), a partnership that includes JAUNT, Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT), University Transit Service (UTS), and Greene County Transit. Our work with the CIT includes acting as a transportation information and referral center for the region, as well as contributing to joint marketing and awareness efforts
Long Range Transportation Demand Management (TDM) Plan
As the region’s designated TDM agency, RideShare is responsible for TDM planning and works to incorporate TDM into regional planning as a voting member on urban and rural transportation committees. Beginning in 2009, the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) requires all agencies receiving TDM grant funds to prepare and submit a Long-Range TDM Plan. The purpose of the Plan is to identify and detail the TDM programs currently provided in the region, to outline potential improvements to be carried out in the Plan’s timeframe, and to illustrate the financial resources necessary to implement these programs and improvements. It establishes the scope and benefits of RideShare’s programs and provides information for DRPT to incorporate RideShare’s TDM plans into the State’s overall TDM plans, funding decisions, and programs.
